REVIEW |
January 23, 2013 This is a 3 CD limited edition release (limited to 3000 copies) of David Arnold's score for Godzilla. It greatly expands on any previous releases. While I enjoyed the movie for what it was, it was not Godzilla and myself and most others still refer to it as GINO (Godzilla In Name Only). This movie could have been so much better than it was and probably wouldn't be so maligned if it was called something other than Godzilla. That being said, David Arnold did write a wonderful score for the movie. The biggest problem was that the music was buried so deep in the mix that almost nobody heard it. Here is an affordable 3 disc set with some great music that includes bonus tracks and the unreleased score album. The first two discs in this "The Ultimate Edition" are identical to the previous La La Land release elsewhere on this site at: Godzilla (LLLCD-1058) [Limited Edition]. This new BSX release does add 3 additional bonus tracks on disc 2 compared with the previous La La Land 2-CD set. The third disc, the unreleased album score is new and this 15-track unreleased album score was never commercially released before. It was only available as a "FOR NOMINATION CONSIDERATION - BEST ORIGINAL SCORE" Oscar promo CD released by Sony in hopes of getting David Arnold an academy award. Bukimisha CDs are available to non-Japanese buyers through BOOTH (The International Indie Art Marketplace) by using a proxy service or other intermediary: https://bukimisya-maal.booth.pm/ |
