REVIEW |
March 28, 2007 I picked this CD up on eBay because it contains two tracks labeled "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" and I was curious. It would seem there are two versions of this disc out. Mine was sealed but it came in a 2 CD case and the back says CD2 is a making of video. All I received was the music CD. This CD is a bit odd in that the record company (Melotron records) is in Los Angeles, CA, USA while the company I got this CD from (COOL SOUND Inc.) is in Tokyo, Japan. Also the booklet is all in English but with a folded paper insert duplicating parts of the booklet in Japanese. I also found this disc on Amazon.com but it must be the US version because only the 1st 8 tracks are listed while this Japanese release has the 9th track that is an alternate version of the first track. Also looking at the pictures in the booklet it seems all the band members except Ryo Okumoto are from the US. Japanese keyboardist Ryo Okumoto is best known for his work in the progressive rock band Spock's Beard. This CD features the talents of many well known session musicians including Steve Lukather, Bobby Kimball and Simon Phillips (all members of Toto) as well as his fellow Spock's Beard bandmates Neal and Alan Morse, Dave Meros and Nick D'Virgilio. This CD's music definitely could be described as a combination of progressive rock with some Jazz thrown into the mix. It contains a mix of vocal and instrumental tracks and if you are into this type music you will enjoy it. After one listen I can say I enjoyed it even though it really skirts the peripheral of being Godzilla related. |
