REVIEW |
December 28, 2006 Description from CD Japan: First ever original soundtrack to "Ultraman" fortieth anniversary commemorative series "Ultraman Mebius" composed by Mr. Ultrasound himself, Toshihiko Sahashi. Also includes the new song "Wandaba" from old-school "Ultraman"composer Toru Fuyuki and booklet with discussions between the two composers and interview. My thoughts: Not a bad sounding Soundtrack. A lot of the music is a bit slow, dark and foreboding but a few other tracks really stand out. Track 15 for instance is a very catchy jazz sounding track. Easily my favorite on the disc. Track 16 is also quite different and sounds like it could be found in a circus.Track 22, Run Through - Wandaba Team Guys by Project DMM with TMC, is a very catchy tune that sounds similar to some of the a capella tracks done by the Bukimisha Weird Secret Society only with music or maybe something you could hear in a cowboy Western movie. Other tracks like track 26, "Meteor Shower", are fast paced and very good. Overall a very listenable soundtrack with some real standouts. Additional info courtesy of David Hirsch The first volume of background themes from the 40th anniversary series, which harkens back to the heyday of Tohru Fuyuki's many scores to the original Showa series. Ultraman Mebius (also available on DVD) is reminiscent of "Ultraman Taro." He was the youngest of the Ultra heroes, and so apparently is Mebius. There's plenty of familiar action and adventure, plus the return of some of Taro's adversaries. Catch Birdon in episode four. Includes the TV version of the title theme. |
