Q: WHY DID I DESIGN THIS SITE?

A: There are many web sites focusing on Godzilla but no others devoted to the music in those movies and so this site was born. On this site you will see many thumbnail pictures of Godzilla and other soundtrack CD's, most of which are imported from Japan. Click on any of them to bring up a page with a larger picture of the CD cover along with other info on the soundtrack including an English translation of the track titles. (Most of the CD's only have Japanese writing)

Q: HOW MANY MOVIES HAS GODZILLA BEEN IN?>

A: Godzilla has appeared in 30 movies (not counting the 1998 U.S. release but counting the 2016 Japanese "Shin (New) Godzilla). Much of the music in these films was done by Akira Ifukube. This composer has not only done Godzilla film music but music to many other Japanese films and is in Japan what a John Williams, Bernard Herrmann or Jerry Goldsmith is in this country. If you've ever watched a Godzilla movie then listening to the music on these soundtracks will bring back instant memories.

I don't count the 1998 U.S. Godzilla because if you have seen it like I have, it is Godzilla in name only (sometimes seen referred to as GINO). I enjoyed the movie (plot holes and all) but it was more of a big iguana monster movie than it was Godzilla. Also, the so called soundtrack has no memorable music. Instead it is like many so-called soundtracks coming out today, just a mishmash of songs and artists aimed at young adults. I have put the David Arnold score for this movie on Godzilla Related CD's Part 1. In the movie most of the score is buried deep in the mix and cannot be heard over the dialogue and sound effects.

Q: WHERE CAN I FIND THESE SOUNDTRACKS?

A: These Japanese CD's are getting harder and harder to find all the time. In Japan when they run off a batch of CD's, whatever number they run off is generally it and titles go quickly out of print. Unlike here in the US, it's pretty rare in Japan to reissue or make a second run of CD titles. I have listed some places I have dealt with for you to try on the Links & Misc. Info page. These places are your best bet to find titles still available. I would strongly suggest that any time you find something you are looking for that you grab it because more than likely it will be gone next time you look.

Q: DO YOU SELL THESE CD'S?

A: NO! I am just a collector and fan trying to bring hard to find information about these CD's to other fans so they will know what's out there and also to give you English translations of the titles and tracks. I AM NOT A STORE OR BUSINESS. I SELL NOTHING. The music on these CD's is all copyrighted so I also do not make illegal copies and MP3's to upload to sites like Napster, Kazaa and others.

Q: DO YOU OWN ALL THESE CD'S?

A: I own most of what you see on the site. It's the result of 30+ years worth of searching and collecting. However I do not own a copy of ALL the CD's on this site. Some of the scans and information was sent to me by friends and other fans of the site.

Q: WHAT IF I HAVE SOME CD'S NOT ON YOUR SITE?

A: If you have something you think should be on this site but isn't, PLEASE EMAIL ME at: larrytuc@hotmail.com. I'd be glad to hear what you have and see if we can make arrangements to get what you have listed on this site with credit going to you.
