06/22/2000 This is the US verison of the soundtrack to "Godzilla 2000: Millenium" by GNP Crescendo. The running time on this disc is about a half minute shorter than the Japanese disc and has 3 less tracks. The good news is that this disc should be much easier to find and much more affordable. Track one starts off with the new Godzilla roar and then goes directly into the theme. This is a nicely done soundtrack with good music. The CD is enjoyable and Takayuki Hattori does a decent job but it sure won't make you forget the vibrant themes of Akira Ifukube. The music here reminds me somewhat of the scores to the newest Mothra movies in the way Hattori weaves slower pieces with action pieces. I'm thinking that the main reason this CD has 3 fewer tracks but almost the same running time is that a few tracks were combined into one here and there. Overall a good CD for the price. I sure hope the movie plays at a theater near me in August. |
