This CD has a lot of slow, suspenseful tunes mixed with many mid-tempo and some up-tempo action pieces. Mr. Ifukube shows great restraint here and gives us all new music instead of recycled themes and marches from past Toho scores. Tracks # 1 through # 32 are from the movie while # 33 through # 40 are alternate edits. We get sound effects on tracks # 41 through # 50 and the last two tracks are audio from trailers with track # 52 containing a lot of Japanese dialogue sounding like someone is telling us the story.

The music here is good but this is one of those CD's where the music works better in the movie rather than as a stand-alone listening experience.
