REVIEW |
September 03, 2023 Bukimisha commemorates the 60th Anniversary of "King Kong vs. Godzilla" (1962) with an a capella recording of the film's monumental soundtrack, one of Akira Ifukube's greatest film score achievements. As with all of their previous work, Bukimisha captures the sound and mood of each cue with their unique vocal arrangements, and this score features a wide variety of themes to showcase their talents. Appropriately, the original film score included many vocal chants, which are a perfect fit for what Bukimisha does best. Track 41 is notable for its robust and amusing male vocal performance of the pop song that played on the transistor radio in the film, originally sung by a woman with a high-pitched voice (Bukimisha's exaggerated vocal mimicry of song's instrumental backing is especially hilarious). And hidden track 43 features a rousing version of the Main Title with both male and female vocals, as sung on the original soundtrack.
