August 12, 2024 This unusual item is a commemorative, promotional CD-R honoring the 25th anniversary of The Japan Music MediaMix Market, aka, M3 - a biannual gathering of independent and self-published musical artists selling their music. The event was developed and organized in 1998 by Bukimisha, and has since become hugely popular, taking place in the spring and autumn of each year at the Tokyo Ryutsu Center. Not intended for sale, the disc was given away for free at M3-2023 Spring. It features four variations (totalling nearly an hour) of the same syncopated, melodic chant, sung in Japanese, to celebrate 25 years of the event. It is repetitive, but amusing, and Bukimisha's vocal arrangements are as elaborate and impressive as any of their other work. Long live M3 and Bukimisha!
