REVIEW |
Nicely packaged collection of the first three GAMERA films contains the
three scores each on its own CD, complete with alternate and unused
takes. The most serious films in the original series, these scores are
surprisingly good, particularly Chuji Kinoshita's music for the
pedestrian paced GAMERA VS. BARUGON. Tadashi Yamauchi, like Akira
Ifukube, set the tone for this series, though his music which has a
somewhat dated feel, particularly Toshio's slow jazz theme. CD booklet
has a number of excellent monster photos. Although all the succeeding
films scores came out in single CDs, I don't know if these three ever
did. |
