May 24, 2001 This CD released in 1991 brings us music from six different movies: "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA ", "TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA", "THE WAR IN SPACE", "ESPY", "TOKYO BAY SET ABLAZE" and "GODZILLA ON MONSTER ISLAND". A decent sampler from the six movies, this is one of the discs in this series that contains music I hadn't heard before and may not be available as seperate expanded discs. The music I hadn't heard before are the tracks from "ESPY" and "TOKYO BAY SET ABLAZE". These may not be available seperately but "ESPY" is also sampled on "KING OF THE MONSTERS" Disc 3, and "TOKYO BAY..." on Disc 5. "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA ", "TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA" and "GODZILLA ON MONSTER ISLAND" does show up on later on Futureland releases in expanded form with each movie getting a full disc of it's own. "THE WAR IN SPACE" was not released individually on CD. However, it was available as the second half of a single-CD 1991 Victor release, "CATASTROPHE 1999 / THE WAR IN SPACE"(VICL-5080) and then later on "KING OF THE MONSTERS", Disc 5. I really enjoyed the vocal on Track #2. I've heard it before but it's still a lovely sounding vocal track. Each of the 10 volumes in this CD series gives slighly more or less than an hour of music. Since they were released back in 1991 there is a very good chance they are now out of print and hard to find. You may still occasionally run into them on eBay or other auction sites and may even run across a copy elsewhere. They are well worth picking up if you don't already have other CD's with this music on them or are a completist as many of us are. |
