OVERALL REVIEW |
March 14, 2014 I want to thank Reed Grele for loaning me this hard to find box set so that I could scan the images and obtain info in order to put this set up here on the site. Thank You Reed! Born on April 1, 1941 in Aichi prefecture, Emi Ito (Birth name Hideyo Ito) and her twin sister Yumi Ito (Birth name Tsukiko Ito) were known as the popular singing duo The Peanuts. They were discovered by Watanabe Pro founder Sho Watanabe when he first saw them performing at a club in Nagoya as the Ito Sisters, and in 1958 brought them to Tokyo, where they were dubbed The Peanuts. Their records were very popular in Japan during the 1950's & 1960's. I've been told they even appeared here in the U.S. on "The Ed Sullivan Show". They also appeared in several films including several Mothra and Godzilla films. The duo retired from performing 4 April 1975. This box set contains 10 CD's including songs released as singles, and songs published for the first time (when this set came out). The box booklet is 104 pages long and banded together are fold outs of their various singles. This set may be out of print and hard to find but CD's by The Peanuts are continually re-released in various packaging and I'm sure most of what's here is available on other discs. The first four (4) discs are all labeled Singles and probably contain most of the singles they ever released in their long career. Disc 5 is titled "Hit Parade Of Dreams", Disc 6 is titled "Japanese Dreams", Disc 7 is titled "World Travel Dream", Disc 8 is "Screen Dream", Disc 9 is "The Last Live" and contains live tracks and finally Disc 10 is labeled as "Dream Bonus Tracks". |
