OVERALL REVIEW |
July 03, 2009 Born on April 1, 1941 in Aichi prefecture, Emi Ito (Birth name Hideyo Ito) and her twin sister Yumi Ito (Birth name Tsukiko Ito) were known as the popular singing duo The Peanuts. They were discovered by Watanabe Pro founder Sho Watanabe when he first saw them performing at a club in Nagoya as the Ito Sisters, and in 1958 brought them to Tokyo, where they were dubbed The Peanuts. Their records were very popular in Japan during the 1950's & 1960's. I've been told they even appeared here in the U.S. on "The Ed Sullivan Show". They also appeared in several films including several Mothra and Godzilla films. The duo retired from performing 4 April 1975. This box set contains 4 CD's with a total of 93 tracks. The box also contains a nice 58 page booklet that contains no pictures but does contain track titles and lyrics in Japanese. Two of the four (4) CD's list track titles in English. Each CD also contain a few bonus titles that are supposedly newly released. Disc 1 has 2 bonus tracks, Disc 2 has 1, Disc 3 has 2 and Disc 4 has 1 for a total of 6 bonus tracks. Each disc label and the back of the tray insert features a picture of The Peanuts on a deuce playing card. Disc 1 features the 2 of Diamonds, Disc 2 features the 2 of Clubs, Disc 3 features the 2 of Hearts and Disc 4 features the 2 of Spades. You can order this set via CD Japan at: |
