REVIEW |
February 06, 2004 Review courtesy of Sam Scali This unusual item is a promotional CD single, released in 1994 by King Records, in conjunction with the Tokyo Marui toy company. Apparently Marui manufactured a pair of radio-controlled toys in the form of Mothra and Godzilla, and my best guess is that the singles were given away to customers who purchased one (or maybe both) of the toys. All of the tracks are synthesizer versions of Godzilla and Mothra music, performed by Makoto Inoue. The first track, the title theme from the first Godzilla film, was originally released (with added monster overdubs) on Inoue's 1983 LP, GODZILLA LEGEND, which was reissued in 1991 as part of the GODZILLA LEGEND 3-CD boxed set(KICA 72~4). Tracks 2, 3 and 4 first appeared on the LP, GODZILLA LEGEND III: DIALOGUE OF THE INFANTIANS, which was also reissued on the LEGEND CD box. While these themes have been released many times, in a variety of forms, this CD single is a rare find, and would likely appeal to diehard collectors of Godzilla music. |
