REVIEW |
April 11, 2000 Toru Takemitsu did the soundtrack music to Akira Kurosawa's "RAN" movie. I really enjoyed that soundtrack (and the movie) and bought this CD hoping to hear similar music by this composer. Alas, as with the other two CD's in this "Works Of....." series that I own, I was disappointed. What disappointed me was that this music is nothing like what I was expecting. It sounds fine and is an enjoyable CD to listen to but it's kind of bland and more like elevator background music than something that will grab your interest and compel you to listen. I sincerely doubt I'll buy any more CD's in this composer series since 3 out of 3 have now left me disappointed. Do I recommend this CD? Only if you want some pleasant background music to listen to. |
