January 03, 2007 Unlike the first CD in this series Blood+ Original Soundtrack 1, SVWC-7345, this one took a few listenings to grow on me. The music here is good with a mixture of types but the tempos range only from slow, dark, brooding tunes to mid-tempo marches. I have never gotten into Anime and have not seen this series so don't know how well the music works with the visuals. As a stand alone piece of music it is enjoyable but not something I'd run out to buy. Nothing here really grabs me the way the first CD did. Considering that many CD's these days, especially soundtracks, run more than an hour, the 48 minute running time on this CD is a bit disappointing. It does grow on you with repeated listens. Additional info courtesy of David Hirsch Mark Mancina delivers 18 more themes from his addictive score to the "Blood+" anime series. This time, the music is darker, more emotional. As the Vampires assemble to attack, even Saya's themes become more melancholy. Her "Battle Theme" is more desperate as is the instrumental version of the end title theme"Diva." |
