According to Wikipedia, a pachinko is a gaming device common in Japan that's a "cross between a pinball machine and a video slot machine." So, I figured that this album would be a soundtrack featuring music from Ultraman-related pachinko games. Unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out to be what I expected. The music used is taken directly from the original shows, offering no new interpretation of the themes. What's worse is the use of sound effects and dialogue that constantly drowns out the music. I suppose you could enjoy listening to the few tracks that sound like Ultraman fighting various monsters, but the album gets repetitive very quickly. In fact, the very short running time is one of the album's greatest strengths. If you want your room to sound like an arcade, then purchase this album. Just don't be fooled into thinking this is a "real" soundtrack. |
