REVIEW |
June 02, 2006 I won this CD on eBay. I had never heard of it before and decided to take a chance. This is a 4 track CD single by a band called Keilerkopf. There are two mixes of a song called "Niemand" and two mixes of their song titled "Godzilla". This appears to be a German band and all songs are sung in German. I have no idea how popular they might be there but the music didn't really grab me much one way or the other. It seems to be some form of a combination of Metal and Techno Pop. I do like a lot of heavy metal music and some techno music. Track 1 & 2, "Niemand", translates to "Nobody" in English. While not great, the heavy metal sounding portions of the song weren't bad. I also noticed a lot crackling in the background like this CD had been made from an old LP. The Godzilla tracks (tracks 3 & 4) start off with the familiar Godzilla roar. Again, the metal portions weren't bad. These tracks don't seem to be as dirty as tracks 1 & 2. I really had to listen hard to hear any signs of the background crackling that was so apparent on the "Niemand" tracks. Maybe the noise was added to the mix on purpose. After hearing this CD a few times I have mixed feelings about the tracks. I can't say I didn't like them but can't say I really liked them either. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy more music by this band. However, the tracks do seem to grow on you a bit with repeated listenings. |
