REVIEW

The first track on this CD from the movie "Dodes'ka-Den" starts off sounding very much like the Jimmy Webb song called "McArthur Park" turned into a 1968 hit by actor Richard Harris. It then progresses into something different with lapses back into the music from the beginning. Very light and airy mid tempo piece and fun to listen to. "Dodes'ka-Den" is the only movie from this disc that I have seen and was done by Akira Kurosawa. There are other discs on this site in the Akira Kurosawa section featuring music from this film. The last track on this CD "Kuroi Ame" (aka "Black Rain") should not be confused with the US film titled "Black Rain" out around the same time. With the exception of track 3, "Yotsuya Kaidan", most of this disc holds up well as a stand alone listening experience. Track 3 definitely needs to be heard with the film.
