Often confused with the animated Gigantor TV series in part because of the recent anime series, Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot (aka the Egyptian looking Giant Robo) was in fact a 1967 live action series more in the Ultraman vein. Takeo Yamashita score is a lively mix of jazz, pop and the typical march music common to many films and TV shows aimed at a young Japanese audience. If you’ve seen the series (reissued on video cassette 10 years ago or the AIP-TV feature Voyage Into Space that was edited from several episodes), then this CD will bring back some memories of its goofy, but fun monster action.
