REVIEW |
April 16, 2021 by site owner Larry Tuczynski I do not own a copy of this CD and don't intend to buy one but it does deserve to be listed on this site. That being said, I don't know what this music sounds like as a stand alone listening experience. I can only give my impressions of the music from seeing the movie. Watching this movie I can say none of the score music stood out or grabbed me unlike the scores by Akira Ifukube. I have never heard of Tom Holkenborg before this and I can say he is no Akira Ifukube. These days it seems score music has gone by the wayside with most movies having nondescript scores by people you never heard of or are filled with popular music from the 1950's to present. It seems gone are the days when great composers like Akira Ifukube, Bernard Herrmann, John Williams, James Horner, Ennio Morricone, and many others composed scores that actually complimented and added to the experience on the screen. I miss those great scores and composers but I guess what passes for movie music these days is cheaper for the studios. |
