REVIEW |
April 07, 2002 In this 1960 film a young man attempts to use his position at the heart of a corrupt company to expose the men responsible for the death of his father. It's a story of corporate scandal in post-war Japan that sometimes is compared to Shakespeare's "Hamlet". Masaru Satoh does a wonderful job on this soundtrack. The music here is very enjoyable as stand alone listening and is mostly upbeat with hints of the jazz styles he would use later on in many pictures. A lot of the music here would fit into a night club scene or old time Hollywood musicals. Considering the subject matter of the film it is surprising that so much of this soundtrack is light, upbeat music. |
