REVIEW |
Disc 4 covers material from 1970 to 1980 and is another of my favorites in this set. This CD is made up of three suites
with Track #3 being the longest one at over 37 minutes with 23 parts to it. Track #1 is light, medium tempo music with a
dreamlike quality to it. It starts off with a theme that strongly reminds me of an instrumental version of a 1960's song by Richard
Harris called "McArthur Park", you know, the "...cake left out in the rain..." song. The rest of the track is nice and relaxing
to listen to. Track #2 contains several sections with men singing accapella. This track also contains a little dialogue and sounds
that seem like the marching feet of soldiers. Track #3, the long one from Kagemusha, is very good and runs the gamot of military
drumming, priestly chanting, lilting walking type music and suspense. A good mix of many styles with an epic, 16th century
feudal type feel to it.
