Disc 5 is very enjoyable even though I have no knowledge of the movies they are from. The disc is a good mix of
action music and mellow, background type music with Track # 4 being somewhat "spooky". Track # 7 features
female vocals.

Track 1 - THE LAST WAR (SEKAI DAISENSO)
Oct 8 1961, 110m, dir Shue Matsubayashi (Toho)
Like ON THE BEACH, with a starry cast, soap opera drama and an apocalypse, but with the edge of being made by Japan,
and awesome effects by Eiji Tsuburaya's team.
Track 2 - THE FINAL WAR (DAI-SANJI SEKAI TANSEN: YONJU-ICHI JIKAN NO KYOFU, lit THIRD WORLD WAR: 41 HOURS OF HORROR)
1960, dir Shigeaki Hidaka (Toei)
This film seems to be missing. The US accidentally drops a bomb on Korea. After the war only Argentina is left.
Track 3 - GREAT INSECT WAR (KONCHU DAISENSO)
Nov 1968, 84m, dir Yoshimizu Nihonmatsu (Shochiku)
Aka GENOCIDE. Interesting premise but a dull film. A Holocaust victim develops killer bees to exterminate Germans but
is thrown off by Japanese interference.
Track 4 - SUBMERSION OF JAPAN (NIPPON CHINBOTSU)
Dec 29 1973, 144m, dir Shiro Moritani (Toho)
Blockbuster disaster movie, novel and TV series, slowed down by many lectures and debates. A sinking nation begs the
world for room to send its population to. Reduced and re-edited (with Lorne Greene) as "TIDAL WAVE".
Track 5 - PROPHECIES OF NOSTRADAMUS (NOSUTORADAMUSU NO DAI YOGEN)
Aug 3 1974, 112m, dir Toshio Masuda (Toho)
Aka CATASTROPHE 1999 / THE LAST DAYS OF PLANET EARTH
Remember when the world ended in 1999? Mutant slugs, acid rain storms, nuclear war?
Tracks 7,8 - TOKYO BAY FIRESTORM (TOKYO WAN ENJO)
Jul 12 1975, dir Katsumune Ishida Aka "CONFLAGRATION".
Hiroshi Fujioka and Tetsuro Tanba return for more disaster. This time an oil tanker is hijacked and will be blown up
unless a refinery is destroyed, so a movie SFX crew stages the demolition.
Track 9 - GREAT BULLET TRAIN EXPLOSION (SHINKANSEN DAI BAKUHA)
1975, dir Junya Sato (Toei) Aka "BULLET TRAIN / SUPER EXPRESS 109".
Familiar faces (Sonny Chiba, Takashi Shimura etc) and a familiar plot (the train is rigged to explode if it slows
below 80km/h).*Note*: Now you know where the idea for the movie "Speed" came from.
Track 11 - EARTHQUAKE ARCHIPELAGO (JISHIN RETTO)
Aug 30 1980, 217m, dir Kenjiro Omori (Toho) Aka "MAGNITUDE 7.9 / DEATHQUAKE"
